nexfibre is a £4.5 billion joint venture between Infravia Capital Partners, Liberty Global and Telefónica. It has been formed to deliver ultra-fast full fibre broadband to up to 7 million homes across the UK.

Job purpose

The position will have the responsibility of reviewing the network design standards and solutions. It will work in new solutions to improve quality, future-proofness and efficiency of the network deployed. The role holder will review plans for growth and / or evolution of the network, and technical solutions for B2B, or ISP service.

Key accountabilities:

  • Fibre access network, from access transmission connection point to the ONU (the equipment installed in the customer premises)
  • Knowledge and understanding of the transmission aggregation network and the core network
  • Work on strategic technology plans, including costing scenarios, and business cases for different technical scenarios.
  • The position will support the Build, Service Assurance, Commercial and M&A units, as well as the CTIO.
  • External interaction with VMO2 Engineering and other Technical teams, and with the LG and Telefonica technical teams. Potentially also with vendors.
  • Collaborating on technical design standards and their evolution, technical solutions to improve efficiencies, or service quality, or scalability, or to support new products, or technological evolution of the nexfibre network.
  • Strategic evaluation of technological options, where the performance and cost elements will have to be taken into account
  • Evaluation of potential network integration options of potential M&A target companies.

Knowledge & experience:

  • Network rollouts, Expansion and Evolution within the telecommunications and FTTH/Cable industries.
  • Able to understand key technological and market trends and drivers and how to respond to them to deliver value for the business
  • Knowledge of the build operating models and components used in major markets of the telco/mobile/cable industry
  • Significant proven commercial skills and experience to be able to develop and challenge costs and benefits in business cases, including resource management, financial management, and budget management
  • Able to take decisions, assess situations to determine the importance, urgency and risks and can make clear decisions which are timely and in the best interest of the organisation.
  • Can multitask, and is able to think about the project on many different levels at once
  • Fosters a culture of collaboration, works co-operatively and effectively with others to set goals, resolve problems and can make decisions that enhance organisational effectiveness.
